Hispanics New Target of Hate Groups
Organized hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan have historically terrorized blacks and Jews in the Southeast. But the recent influx of Hispanic immigrants to the region has given hate groups a new target, and officials say Hispanics are increasingly targets of hate crimes. Former Klansman Daniel Schertz, a 27-year-old from the southeast Tennessee town of South Pittsburg, was indicted in June on charges of building pipe bombs to kill Hispanic immigrants.

Suit Claims Discrimination Against Hispanics on Job
Workers and federal officials say they are surprised that the factory remains so segregated three years after 91 workers filed charges with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, accusing the factory's owner, the Quietflex Manufacturing Company, of illegal discrimination. After months of fruitless efforts to negotiate a settlement with Quietflex, the commission intervened last September in a private lawsuit against Quietflex, eager to change what it says is one of the worst cases of work force segregation it has seen in years.

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced the launch of its new Spanish-language Web site. The site is aimed at reaching the growing Hispanic business community and the Spanish-speaking community at large with a business tool to help current and aspiring owners to start and grow their businesses successfully.
