The
We Are Traverse City bumper sticker is based, with
permission, on a 1989 series of Michigan diversity/unity logo's
created by Photo Communication Services, Inc., a partner in
the creation of the "Say Yes to Michigan" campaign.
The
slogans We Are Traverse City and Creating a Safe
& Livable Community for All was created by M'Lynn
Hartwell, a We Are Traverse City, Inc., Board member.
Additional
graphic elements were suggested by Commissioner Margaret Dodd
(currently serving as Mayor).

A
rough draft of the We Are Traverse City sticker design
was digitally rendered, and generously donated to the community
unity initiative by local artist Richard Curtis.
The
"draft" was submitted to, and approved by, the Traverse
City Human Rights Commission.
Next
the approved bumper sticker design was sent out to several
local printing companies via the City Managers office for
competitive bidding.
Copy
Central won the City contract with a bid of $1,800.00 to produce
10,000 stickers. Copy Central digitally created the final
artwork utilized in the We Are Traverse City bumper
stickers; printed them, then delivered the bumper stickers
to the City of Traverse City for distribution.
The
We Are Traverse City logo and bumper stickers were
released to the public at a well publicized media event which
took place in front of City Hall on December 19, 2000.
The
copyright to the sticker above is owned by Utopian Empire
Creativeworks, and is on file with the National Copyright
Office at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. (Registration
Number: VA 1-000-808). While we hope that you will care to
make free use of the design, or derivatives of the design,
we would appreciate a note expressing your interest and intentions.
We are happy to help you design a community based campaign,
provide graphics and give you all the support you desire.
